Technical Author

We are looking for a Technical Author to work on primarily Land programmes, working with our clients to support the MOD across a wide range of projects across various disciplines.

The role will predominately be remote working with occasional visits to client’s sites or the Allan Webb Ltd. offices.​

The Technical Author will report to the Technical Publications Manager and be responsible for:

  1. Collating and interrogating source data in order to assess the impact to technical publications
  2. Identifying relevant stakeholders in order to create or update technical publications in line with the client’s requirements
  3. Managing workloads effectively and efficiently to meet the demands of the programmes utilising available resource as necessary to facilitate amendments and production of new technical publications
  4. Delivery of draft technical publications for engineering governance, within agreed timescales and to agreed company and customer acceptable quality standards
  5. Providing support for technical queries regarding technical publications, from both internal and external stakeholders
  6. Providing regular updates on the progress of all technical publication tasks as required.

Skills/Experience Required:

  1. An extensive engineering and/or Defence background with at least one years’ authoring experience
  2. The ability to produce concise and accurate operating and maintenance manuals from a variety of source information, including engineering drawings
  3. Ability to work to tight timescales
  4. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  5. A knowledge of Defence Publications, e.g. AESPs, APs and BRs.
