Obsolescence Management for a Communications Programme

Allan Webb provided a proactive Obsolescence Management service to enable Asset Management for lifecycle risk analysis of 4,000 hardware and software items.

Challenge

The management of significant unplanned and unresolved obsolescence risk at contract award.
Limited system configuration data.
A need to obtain accurate lifecycle status for software items.

Outcomes

Proactive Obsolescence Management Solution: Allan Webb Ltd’s DiamondOM® Tool was utilised to support the programme within a secure environment.
Configuration Management: Created a system Bill of Materials (BoM) file to identify both hardware and software items. Through item analysis we were able to reduce the BoM from 4,000 items to circa. 2,000 unique items by cleansing the data and removing duplications etc.
Lifecycle Analysis: Item lifecycle status was established with continuous monitoring, achieving 99% success rate.
