Allan Webb is delighted to announce the appointment of Calum Chalmers as its new Head of Data Science. Calum has joined our team from Capgemini UK, and brings with him a wealth of experience in contemporary and traditional data science and artificial intelligence techniques. He will be leading the creation of our new data science capabilities, delivering applied machine learning models to help our clients reach informed decisions.
Calum obtained an MSc in pure mathematics from the University of Warwick in 1998, returning to the University of Warwick in 2014 to study for an MSc in Data Science. More recently, Calum studied Mathematical Finance at the University of Oxford. He is an AI developer, practitioner and educator, with over 20 years of industry experience, having worked in the financial and energy sectors, as well as in defence, government departments and public sector bodies.
As a lead data scientist Calum has led international teams of data scientists and has worked with world class leaders and researchers in several key fields of artificial intelligence, including: image processing (University of Berkeley, California; the Instituto de Optica, Spain and the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, Spain), synthetic data (Mostly AI, Synthesized IO, and The Turing Institute), graph databases and graph analytics (Neo4j and TigerGraph).
With data being the new oil that runs not only our economies and governments, but also our very way of life, Calum is passionate about making sense of this data and about demystifying the data science landscape.
